Report Cards

The first quarter ended on Thursday, October 10. Report cards will not be printed and distributed this year. They can be viewed and/or printed on the Campus Portal. First quarter grades will be available on Friday, October 25. If you need a printed copy, please contact the main office at (815) 899-8182.

PTO Staff Lunch

Each month, the PTO sponsors a lunch for over 100 staff members at SMS. This month’s lunch is on Wednesday, October 16 (Tailgate Time with lots of appetizers and dips). If you are interested in helping out by donating food items or volunteering your time for set-up and clean-up, please sign up here

Book Fair

Mark your calendars! The Hocus Pocus Book Fair is coming soon, and we will transform the library into our very own book store. There you will find hundreds of books from new and favorite authors, popular series, cool posters, and school supplies. The Hocus Pocus Book Fair will be here from Wednesday, October 30 to Tuesday, November 5. Everyone is invited! As always, we are asking for volunteers. We will once again have special events including Dads and Donuts, Lunch with GRANDS, and a Family Fun Night. Stay tuned for more information! 


We are still accepting donations from the Run-A-Thon. Please have your student bring the pledges to the main office.

Boys Basketball

Tryouts will take place on October 14, 15, and 16 at 3:10-5:30 PM. Athletes must be signed up on 8to18 and have an updated physical on file before tryouts.

Pumpkin Fest Run

We are organizing a group of SMS volunteers to assist at a water station during the Pumpkin Fest Run on Sunday, October 27. For those of you needing to do community service hours, this is a great way to earn some time, and it’s a lot of fun! If you would like to help out on race day, please see Mrs. Nelson for more details or sign up in the office.

Spartanettes Dance Clinic

Dance Team Invites all children in grades Kindergarten through 8th grade to participate in FAME with The Spartanettes clinic on Tuesday, October 15 at 4:30-7:00 PM in the Sycamore High School Main Gym. The cost includes a shirt and a snack. Little dancers will perform during half-time on Friday, October 18 at the Freshman game which begins at 5:00 PM. All dancers will receive free admission. More specific information will be given on the day of the clinic. 

You must register students for this event. Please mail before Monday, October 7 to order and receive a shirt. Your child is not guaranteed a shirt if not pre-registered. All questions or concerns may be addressed to Coach: Kelly Bolander Meyers, (815) 757-6293 or kbolander@syc427.org.

Craft Show

The Sycamore Music Boosters are once again hosting the Autumn Craft & Treasures Market on Saturday, October 26 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Sunday, October 27 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the SHS Field House. There are close to 200 vendors featuring a wide variety of quality crafts, handmade wood products, specialty items such as wool products, candles, spices, candies, antiques, ceramics and much more. Admission: Adults-$2.00; Seniors/Students-$1.00; children under 5 free. 

Sycamore Park District – No School Day Trip

On October 28, head west ‘til you reach the big ‘ol Miss and spend the day outdoor rock climbing with Outdoor Adventures along its bluffs. Enjoy the gorgeous scenery and learn new skills. Instruction is provided and the trip is perfect for beginning climbers. Registration includes climbing equipment (harness and shoes) as well as transportation and picnic lunch in Savanna, Illinois. YMCA Jr High Club 

Looking for something to do with your friends on Friday nights?  Come check out our Jr. High Y Club that offers a fun and safe environment full of games, music and activities.  This program will give middle school students a place to go in order to relax and hang out with friends, learn more about themselves and how they can make a positive impact in their community. 

Location: Kishwaukee YMCA

Time:  6:30 – 8:00 PM

Dates: October 11 & 25, November 8 & 22, and December 13

Member Fee: Free

Program Participant Fee: $5/night
