Tonight, Monday, February 4 at 6:30PM, our eighth grade parents and students are invited to the Sycamore High School Auditorium for Registration Night. At this meeting, parents and students will learn about class requirements, the Naviance program, registering for classes, and due dates for High School schedules. At the conclusion of the presentation, parents and students will have the opportunity to learn from each of the different departments by attending the Curriculum Fair in the High School Fieldhouse. Students are encouraged to bring their green scheduling sheet, in case they have any questions. Please plan on attending this important event. Scheduling forms are due to the Middle School front office by 8:30AM on Friday, February 8.

Please join us on Friday, February 8 from 8:30AM-9:30AM for this open, friendly forum to come and meet your middle school student’s school counselors, Elizabeth Blevins and Elizabeth Hoerchler.

This is safe space open to any parent/guardian of a Sycamore Middle School student to speak to many topics! Some ideas may be boundaries, internet safety, social emotional learning, study skills, suicide, standardized testing, MTSS, Intervention classes, and so much more!

Come grab a cup of coffee and some pastries, share and learn! We hope to see you there!

Due to the snow day on Monday, November 26, school will be in session on Monday, February 18.

The Board of Education has approved the 2019-2020 Academic Year Calendar. The calendar is similar to past years and we will continue to use President’s Day in February as an Emergency Day. This allows for instructional time to be made up earlier, rather than adding time on at the end of the year.

Are you a 6th Grade girl who is interested in trying out for the 7th Grade volleyball team this summer? We will be putting on a FREE clinic to teach some basic skill and concepts. The first day will be after school, today, February 4. If your student forgot to register, she may still start tomorrow. Call the main office so a registration sheet can be sent home today.

It’s that time of year again… talent show time! We need all singers, dancers, gymnasts, comedians, and performers to get your acts ready for the judges! Auditions will be held the week of February 11 in Mrs. Peck’s classroom. Sign up now with any of the following teachers: Mrs. Peck, Ms. Frankiewicz, Mrs. Wright, Ms. Johnson, Mrs. Tadie, or Mrs. Shields.

On Saturday, February 9, The Sycamore Music Boosters will again be hosting their annual A Note to Remember Classical and Jazz Gala Fundraiser at Blumen Gardens. This adult only event begins at 7:00PM. For more information visit sycamoremusicboosters.com

The Spartan Food Pantry located at West Elementary School is open this Wednesday, February 6, from 4:30PM-6:30PM. The Pantry is open to any family that has a student attending a Sycamore School. Just bring a photo ID.

The pantry is a choice-pantry that offers frozen foods (burgers, chicken tenders, other meats), fresh produce, dairy products, canned goods, snacks, treats, and much more. Families can come to the pantry every time it is open and choose what items they would or would not like to take. The next one is February 20.

At least every other year, districts throughout Illinois are asked to participate in the 5Essential survey to gather information from our faculty, students and parents to gain insight in the key components of all successful schools. These areas include effective leaders, collaborative teachers, involved families, supportive environments, and ambitious instruction.

The results of the survey responses are reported back to the schools for their review and planning for future school improvement focus items within the five areas.

We need your assistance and your feedback. As a district, we have chosen to provide the opportunity for you, the parents/guardians of our students, to offer us feedback via the 5Essentials parent survey. The survey takes about 10 minutes to complete and can be completed on your smart device.

Your participation in the parent survey will help us understand the conditions here at the school and guide improvement. Your identity and individual survey responses will be kept completely confidential and will never be connected to you or your child.

To take the survey, click here.

For more information about the Illinois 5Essentials Survey, please visit https://illinois.5-essentials.org.

Thank you, in advance, for your time and participation.
