5 Essentials Survey 

Districts throughout Illinois are asked to participate in the 5Essential survey to gather information from our faculty, students and parents to gain insight into the key components of all successful schools. These areas include effective leaders, collaborative teachers, involved families, supportive environments, and ambitious instruction. The results of the survey responses are reported back to the schools for their review and planning for future school improvement focus items within the five areas. 

We need your assistance and your feedback. The survey takes about 10 minutes to complete and can be completed on your smart device. Your participation in the parent survey will help us understand the conditions here at the school and guide improvement. Your identity and individual survey responses will be kept completely confidential and will never be connected to you or your child. Sycamore Youth Basketball League 

We will be offering a 7th and 8th grade boys division this year. This division is intended to provide skill development and game experience for students who were not able to participate in a travel basketball program this winter. 

Details:

  • Practices will be held on Tuesday nights at West Elementary School from 7-8 PM (first practice 1/14/20).

  • Games are played on Saturday mornings at 11:00 AM (1/18/20 – 3/7/19).

  • Each athlete will receive a shirt.

  • New teams will be picked on Saturday before each game.

  • Cost of the league is $60. An online link for payment will be sent out after interest is expressed.

Parent Volunteer Needed for Heart & Soul

Heart & Soul is the middle school extension of Girls On The Run. The season is from March through May 2020. If you are interested please contact Carrie Sudmeier at cgsudmeier05@gmail.com or Mary Gentile at mgentile@syc427.org


Holiday Hunger

Donate to the Spartan Food Pantry from December 9-20 at the box in your homeroom. If you donate the item of the day, you will get a raffle ticket for a $20 VISA gift card! A complete list is available on the Student Council bulletin board.

Dance

The next PTO Dance will take place right after Winter Break on Friday, January 10 at 7:00-9:00 PM. We are looking for parents to donate snacks that will be sold at the dance. If you can donate, please click here.


End of Quarter and Winter Break

Don’t forget that the 2nd Quarter ends on Friday, December 20. Please talk to your student about missing assignments. There will be early dismissal on Friday, December 20. Students will be dismissed at 11:00 AM and should be picked up by 11:15 AM. Winter break is December 23-January 3. School resumes Monday, January 6.
