Due to the snow day on Monday, November 26, school will be in session on Monday, February 18.
2019-2020 SCHOOL CALENDAR
The Board of Education has approved the 2019-2020 Academic Year Calendar. The calendar is similar to past years and we will continue to use President’s Day in February as an Emergency Day. This allows for instructional time to be made up earlier, rather than adding time on at the end of the year.
On Wednesday, January 16, we will be kicking off our Winter Fundraiser. We will be selling magazines and gourmet coffee to support ongoing school activities. Your child will bring home a packet of information from the presentation Wednesday afternoon. Sales will continue through January 30.
Builder’s Club will be collecting gently used or new coats, hats, and gloves to be donated to the Sycamore Food Pantry and Katie’s Closet. Please leave them in the Commons. Collection will end on January 31.
There is NO SCHOOL on Monday, January 21, 2019 in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

8th GRADE TO HS REGISTRATION NIGHT
8th Grade Parents – Mark your calendars! Monday, January 28 at 6:30PM our eighth grade parents and students are invited to the Sycamore High School Auditorium for Registration Night. At this meeting, parents and students will learn about class requirements, the Naviance program, registering for classes, and due dates for High School schedules. At the conclusion of the presentation, parents and students will have the opportunity to learn from each of the different departments by attending the Curriculum Fair in the High School Fieldhouse. Please plan on attending this important event.
ERIN’S LAW PRESENTATIONS
Your child’s classroom will be receiving the Erin’s Law presentations during the weeks of February 11-15. Information about the presentations is available on our district website under the Our Departments Tab. Under the Learning and Teaching Department section, look for Parent Resources. If you have questions or would like your child not to participate in this presentation, please contact James Cleven, building principal, or Mary Gentile, social worker, by February 4, 2019.

On Saturday, February 9, The Sycamore Music Boosters will again be hosting their annual A Note to Remember Classical and Jazz Gala Fundraiser at Blumen Gardens. This adult only event begins at 7:00 PM. For more information visit sycamoremusicboosters.com

At least every other year, districts throughout Illinois are asked to participate in the 5Essential survey to gather information from our faculty, students and parents to gain insight in the key components of all successful schools. These areas include effective leaders, collaborative teachers, involved families, supportive environments, and ambitious instruction.
The results of the survey responses are reported back to the schools for their review and planning for future school improvement focus items within the five areas.
