Seventh Grade Team Intrepid

Team teachers are typically available for phone calls between 10:10 - 10:35 AM Mondays - Wednesdays and Fridays, and 10:35 - 11:00 AM Thursdays. Feel free to contact us as needed. The school phone number is (815) 899-8170. In addition, each teacher also can be contacted by email. To facilitate communication, please use the following guidelines.

• Concerns that impact your child in all core classes should be directed to the Team Leader, Karen Zipse. Every attempt will be made to respond to your request as soon as possible.
• Concerns that impact your child in a specific class should be directed to that individual teacher.

All work is expected to be handed in on time in order to enhance the level of learning that takes place during class time.

Missing work due to absences can be acquired by first checking Google Classroom. Contacting the teacher or a reliable classmate if clarification is needed.

Your student’s graded work is a good indicator of performance in each class. Please use the Campus Parent Portal to review your student’s grades on a regular basis. Mid-term reports will not be mailed to your home, so regular checks of your student's progress will help to ensure their success. If you have concerns, it is a good idea to call or e-mail the individual teacher.

Teachers are available to assist students during study hall each day, or can make an appointment with the teacher to meet before or after school. 

One or two Parent Volunteer Coordinators are needed to organize and contact parents to help with various team activities. Adults may be asked periodically to supply food for activities, chaperone field trips, and assist during various special events. If you are available to help in any way, e-mail the team leader or send a note with your child. We value your expertise and appreciate any contributions you might make to benefit the students.

Language Arts

Lexile.com provides information on the reading level for books.

Collins Dictionary is a good source for definitions. It defaults to British English, but it does have an “English for learners” feature that provides simple definitions.

“What Should I Read Next?” recommends books that are similar to a book that students have read and enjoyed.

Purdue Owl provides formatting resources for writing.

EasyBib is a simple tool that helps students create properly formatted bibliographies.
