We have a wide range of teaching experience and we look forward to assisting your student meet the challenges of 8th grade and prepare for the transition to high school. We’ve included some informational items below to help your family become acquainted with team procedures.

Communication

Late Work Policy/Absences

All work is expected to be handed in on time in order to maximize the level of learning that takes place during class time. Increased rigor at the 8th grade level also means an increase in the negative impact that late or missing work has on a student’s learning progression. Late work will be accepted, but teacher discretion will dictate credit awarded to assignments not completed on time. Missing work and late work due to absences can be acquired by reading assignments posted in the classroom during the following day or by discussing these matters with teacher upon returning to school. Students are responsible for contacting teachers to discuss making up these assignments. Long-term projects/assignments (assigned well ahead of the absence) are due on the day the student returns.

Campus Parent Portal

Your student’s graded work is a good indicator of performance in each class. Please use the Campus Parent Portal to review your student’s grades on a regular basis. Mid-term reports will not be mailed to your home, so regular checks of your student's progress will help to ensure their success. If you have concerns, it is a good idea to email or call the individual teacher.
